ZEISS Star Projectors

Nearly a century ago, the very first model of what we think of now as a classic opto-mechanical star projector was designed and built by ZEISS. Advances driven by the availability of technology and the desire to have a crisp, realistic night sky has fostered innovation and gained ZEISS a reputation in the planetarium field for precision stars with an unprecedented sharpness and brilliance. ZEISS continues the tradition of realism, offering stars that meet the threshold of human perception under reasonable viewing conditions.

Each projector can be controlled in a hybrid planetarium experience, and can be customized to share the workload with the digital projection system. For the budget-conscious, we can reduce the features that are easily handled digitally, thereby reducing the overall cost of ownership. Or keep the full redundancy and use the instrument in stand-alone mode without the digital system.
